Shopping for beds may sound easy enough. I mean, you head to the store, pick out a nice looking mattress and take it home, right? Well yes, but there are many steps in between, such as taking time to think a few things over. When shopping for beds, you want to make sure that you are getting the right ones for your needs; otherwise, you are not doing anything other than wasting money.
The first thing to consider is the size of beds you need. You want to ask yourself about where the beds are going to be placed. Is the bed for your master bedroom? Is it for the teenager’s bedroom? On the other hand, are you simply looking for something that you can stick in a guest bedroom? By determining where the beds are going and who will be sleeping in them, you will be able to select the perfect size.
Beds come in single, double, queen and king sizes. While it is not entirely impossible to fit two people in a single bed, it certainly would not be comfortable. Single beds are generally reserved for single people, children, and teenagers or for very small guest bedrooms. A double bed is great for guest bedrooms as there is plenty of room for a couple to sleep. Some teenagers also enjoy a double bed to stretch out in when the bedroom is large enough to accommodate it.
The queen and king sized Beds are perfect for the master bedrooms as these bedrooms are typically larger than the rest of the bedrooms in the house. Too small of a bed would look “off” in such a large room which is why so many people stick with the queen or king size beds.
One thing that you will have to take into consideration when shopping for beds is not just the room size, but also the path between the front door and the bedroom. If you live in an apartment that is on a second level, you might have a problem. Double-check your measurements to make sure that the path is wide enough to angel not just the flexible mattress, but the firm box springs as well. If you have a platform bed than you will not have as much of a problem since the beds, or mattresses, themselves can normally be twisted and bent just enough to make it past tight corners.
For those looking to have their beds delivered, make sure that you are double-checking their delivery guidelines. Some deliver companies will only deliver to the front door while others will deliver the beds all the way to the rooms that they belong to. You want to make sure that you have arrangements made for additional help in case the delivery people will simply drop off the beds at the front door. What if it rains? You want to make sure that the beds get inside as quickly as possible so that no damage is done to them. |
